Going green

At Culburra Public School we endeavour to follow the three principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Gardening

Each week a team of parent and community members meet with school staff and students for our Friday Garden Club. Together they foster and develop the student's knowledge and appreciation of how to manage and maintain a garden.

Students are excited when produce is harvested and shared for classroom tasting. We look forward to boosting our crop so that produce can be utilised in the school Canteen, or taken home by students.

This program builds links within school and with the wider community through the support of volunteers.

Composting and Recycling

Students from K-6 eat fruit daily through our Munch Crunch and Read program and also Live Life Well.

They are encouraged to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Each class has a compost bin and a recycling bin. Class monitors empty the compost bins daily to be later utilised in the school vegetable garden.

A team of recyclers from Stage 3 classes collect paper and cardboard for the recycling pick-up.

We are very proud of the effort made by staff and students to promote our 'green' values.
